Hi, I'm Nish Nalbandian, President of Comet Canine Training. I get asked a lot about my career, so I thought I'd put a page up that lists my career highlights. I specialize in custom, one-on-one dog training. My experience as a working dog trainer and handler allows me to meet the needs of my clients and to teach them the skills they need to become an effecive leader for their dogs.
Career Highlights
Service Dog Experience
- Training Director, Freedom Service Dogs
- Trained Libby, an Assistance Dog that went on to save her owner's life, appear on the Today Show, and earn the Red Cross's Service Dog of the year award.
- Trained and placed Service dogs for people with a variety of disabilities throughout the country.
- Trained and placed the first service dog in Argentina
- Lectured at Craig Hospital in Denver on the Use of Service Dogs
- Lectured at The Fleni Institute in Buenos Aires on the Use of Service Dogs
- Provided consulting services resulting in greater access for service dogs in Argentina
- Developed a standard Assistance Dog Certification
- Developed a modular, task-oriented training system to allow clients to quickly adapt their dog to new skills
- Numerous write-ups in local and national publications
- Organized and Conducted Colorado's first Assistance Dog Summit, bringing together the leaders from most of the other organizations to discuss issues affecting us all.
Pet Dog Training and Behavior Modification
- Highly skilled in Aggression Management, Progressive Desensitization, Counter-Conditioning, Pharmacological Intervention
- Work with over 200 dogs per year, solving many behavior problems
- Exclusive referrals from many local veterinarians with whom I work closely to provide appropriate behavior modification protocols
- Have lectured and conducted seminars in Montana, Colorado, California, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Wyoming, Florida, and Delaware, as well as in Argentina and Armenia.
